Ajman in Review
Ajman is a compact city that offers some unique shopping opportunities and great dining venues. With its attractive, spacious areas and broad clean streets it is smaller than any of the other emirates and this gives it more of a sociable atmosphere.
Its main attraction is the 20 mile long beach of fine white sand along the Persian Gulf Coast. Ajman has one of the largest dhow building centers in the area; pay a visit and learn how these huge, traditional wooden boats are built. Basic tools and skills that have been used for centuries are still in use and it is fascinating to watch the skilled workers.
If you like to sightsee then visit the museum in the 18th century fort where you can read about the history of the area. There are some interesting old manuscripts, antique artifacts and weapons used in battles that took place long ago. Sights to check out include the old waterfront area and the Ajman Khor shoal, Beach Rock Road and Mowaihat, an important archaeological site just outside the city.
